Chislehurst Glebe (A) Match Preview

Updated: Sep 3, 2025

Chislehurst Glebe vs Punjab United, SCEFL Premier Division, Foxbury Avenue, Tuesday 2nd September 2025, 7:45PM KO

Punjab had a difficult game last time out against Tunbridge Wells where they faced a 1-4 defeat at The Steve Cook Stadium. Punjab went down 3-0 quickly in the first half, but they didn’t let this change their mentality as they came in the 2nd half with a renewed sense of confidence. More chances were made in the second half compared to the first half, with Roman Campbell scoring a penalty in the 58th minute but Wells regained their three goal advantage.

Jindi Banwait spoke about some of the key takeaways in the game in a post-match interview:

Punjab now hope to get back on track against Chislehurst Glebe. Glebe currently sits on one point higher than Punjab and have had a similarly tough start to their Premier Division Campaign with 0 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses.

Our Opposition:

Dan Lawrence was recently appointed Glebe manager in May of this year. He is known for building competitive sides, with an emphasis on balance between solid defence and a strong offense. During his time at Canterbury City, he guided the club to a 6th place finish, solidifying himself as an up-and-coming top tier manager.

Jamie Philpot stood out as Glebe FC’s top performer in the 24/25 season, scoring 12 goals and becoming the club's team top scorer, so he will be one Punjab will have to look out for.

Overall, Glebe is an emerging and unpredictable side, so Punjab will have to be on their toes, but they will also have to be ruthless with their attacks and the risks they take, it is crucial that Punjab secures the first win of the season.

History:

Chislehurst Glebe FC, originally founded in 1995 as Glebe Globetrotters by Rocky and Grace McMillan, began as a single Under-8s team and quickly established itself as a dominant force in youth football, winning multiple Kent Youth League titles and London County Cups.

Building on that success, the club introduced a senior side in 2010 and joined the Kent Invicta League in 2013. Within a few years they enjoyed silverware, lifting the London Senior Trophy and Kent Invicta Cup in 2016 before winning the SCEFL Division One title in 2017 to secure promotion to the Premier Division.

Based at Foxbury Avenue in Chislehurst, where they have developed a 15-acre site complete with stadium pitch, training facilities, and clubhouse, the club has continued to grow both competitively and in the community. Glebe has gained a reputation as a

talent pathway, producing players such as Emile Smith Rowe and Ethan Pinnock who progressed to the professional game.

The senior side has since become a regular competitor in the SCEFL Premier Division, recording their highest-ever finish of third place in 2023, alongside strong FA Vase runs. In June 2025, the club rebranded as Chislehurst Glebe FC, underlining its close ties to the local community while continuing to combine ambition on the pitch with a commitment to grassroots football development.
