Punjab United are back in action in the Kent Senior Trophy (2nd Round) against local side

Greenways FC. Punjab United have had two big wins coming against Tadley Calleva in the FA Vase and against Hollands and Blair in the SCEFL. However, Punjab were met with a “bump in the road” against Rusthall, where despite going ahead twice, they fell to a 4-2 defeat.

The programme for this afternoon's game can be seen below.

Our Opponents:

Greenways FC currently play in the SCEFL Division One where they currently sit in

4th.

They have had a tricky run of games in their last 3 with 2 defeats and a singular

draw.

In terms of players, Timileyin Babington leads the way for the Greenways as their top goal scorer with 9 goals, one to look out for going into Saturday.

History:

Greenways FC began in 1965 as NALGO FC, earning four straight promotions before taking their current name in 1967. The club became a dominant force in the Gravesend League, winning the Premier Division seven times and 17 cups between 1974 and 1988, including major successes in 1986–87.

In 1988 they moved up to the Kent County League, winning the Premier Division and Inter-Regional Challenge Cup in their first season. More trophies followed in the 2010s, and in 2018 they were promoted to the Southern Counties East Football League (SCEFL).

They recorded solid seasons around COVID-19 before a difficult 2023–24 saw them finish bottom. However, they received a reprieve and remained in SCEFL Division One for 2024–25, also securing a new long-term home at Rochester United.

Overall this game can be seen as a must win for Punjab as they continue to challenge

for silverware.
