In a captivating encounter between VCD Athletic and Punjab United, both teams battled fiercely to a 2-2 draw in a SCEFL Premier Division clash. The match showcased thrilling moments, drama, and a late twist that left fans on the edge of their seats as Lea Dawson fired home to share the points.
The game kicked off with both teams displaying attacking intent. VCD Athletic took an early lead with a corner which was headed home by Reece Deakins in the 5th minute. Punjab United responded creating some clear-cut chances but the VCD keeper stood in their way and kept their clean sheet hopes alive.

A few words were said at half time and this helped Punjab as they came out firing early on in the second half. That early pressure came off as Alfie Bloomfield fired home from a Lea Dawson header which levelled the scoring in the 49th minute and gave Punjab some hope.

Chances went both ways with it being a tight game but a goal was definitely coming after a few goals were given offside against VCD. However, VCD retook the lead as a cross was played into the box but unfortunately it came off Jack Barry who put it in his own net in the 60th minute and Punjab had work to do to get something from the game.

However, Punjab grafted in the last 30 mins of the match and eventually their efforts paid off as a Chris Edwards cross was headed by Paul Vines which the keeper tipped onto the crossbar, but Lea Dawson was there on the rebound to level the scoring and to hopefully push on in search of a winner.

Unfortunately, we didn't get that 3rd goal to win us the game and the points were shared.
