After a seven goal thriller on Saturday in a 4-3 win against Larkfield & New Hythe, Punjab now play their third away game in a row as they take on Kennington FC. Saturday was a great afternoon against Larkfield where a hat-trick from Jack Hopkins from inside 27 minutes. A superb strike and first goal for the club from Lee Bird secured the three points and firmly placed Punjab in the play-off hunt. This was a key victory for Punjab as despite their great form in the cups, they had lost their last two league games.


Our Opponents:

Kennington have had a somewhat strong campaign in the SCEFL so far. They currently sit in 14th place, a few points away from the top-half of the table.


In terms of form, they are on a two game losing streak with tough matchups against Whistable Town and Sutton Athletic not going in their favour. In their last five, they've only won once with four defeats in the process. Their only win came in a 1-0 win against Snodland Town.





In terms of players, Ryan Philpott has established himself as the leading marksman for the side, leading the team with 17 goals. He is a formidable forward and is one that Punjab will have to look out for.


This match is gearing up to be a great one as Punjab is looking to edge closer to playoff contention while Kennington is trying to bounce back after some losses and establish themselves within the top 10.


History:

Kennington F.C. was founded in 2013 and is based in Ashford, Kent. The club initially competed in the Kent County League, winning Division One East in the 2015–16 season to gain promotion to the Premier Division. In 2017–18, Kennington won the Kent County League Premier Division and were promoted to the Southern Counties East Football League for the 2018–19 season. They currently compete in the Premier Division of the Southern Counties East Football League. The club plays its home matches at Homelands Stadium, which has a capacity of around 3,000 and is shared with Ashford United F.C.. Kennington have also competed in national competitions such as the FA Vase and county competitions including the Kent Senior Trophy, while also running reserve and youth teams that compete in local leagues to help develop players for the senior squad.
