We are back for some more SCEFL action after winning in great fashion against Sutton Athletic, with a final score of 3-1, Roman Campbell, Jack Hopkins and Wayne Bushell were all able to get onto the scoresheet for us. We are now on a 3-game undefeated run, but they now face a new challenge, in the form of Kennington.

Our Opponents:

Kennington have had a bright start to the season; they currently sit in 3rd place with 16 points from all games so far. Kennington are currently on their own mini streak, with zero losses in their last two games, including one of the largest wins of the SCEFL season so far, with a 5-0 win over Corinthian.

Kennington is headed by Dan Scorer; he has held the position since 2014. Scorer was in for a potenitally bright playing career, but injuries to his ACL held him back, leading him to eventually take the reins of the club.

Under Scorer’s leadership, Kennington has achieved several promotions, rising from the Kent County League divisions into the Southern Counties East League Premier Division.

Kennington is a squad full of talent, but this season one player has risen above the rest. Ryan Philpott is one of Kennington's most clinical attackers, and a key set piece taker for the side. He has scored 7 goals this season so far, with 1 hattrick earlier this season. He will be one we will have to look out for.

History:

Kennington FC, founded in the mid-1880s, is one of the oldest football clubs in Kent. The team began by competing in local village and works leagues before establishing themselves in the Ashford & District League, where they built a strong reputation. Seeking higher standards, they joined the Kent County League in the 1980s and went on to win multiple division titles and cups, earning promotions along the way. After decades in county football, Kennington achieved further success by winning the Kent County Premier Division in 2018, which secured their place in the Southern Counties East Football League. Since then, they have made their FA Vase debut in 2019 and FA Cup debut in 2020, before being promoted to the SCEFL Premier Division in 2021 as part of the FA’s league restructuring. Today, the club continues to progress, combining a long history with modern ambitions.
