Punjab United Confirm Owen & Wayne Bushell for 2025/26 Season

Punjab United are pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Owen Bushell and defender Wayne Bushell will remain at the club for the 2025/26 season.

They both joined the club for the U23's in the 2022-23 season where they excelled so much that both got opportunities with the first team during that season. Wayne made his first team debut in a 4-1 defeat to Hollands & Blair while Owen got his opportunity against K Sports in a 3-1 win. Over the past two seasons they have made a combined total of over 130 appearances with Wayne scoring eleven times for the club. They have also had recent success with their Sunday League side Avery Hill who have the chance to win a cup tomorrow afternoon and the league next Sunday.

Owen Bushell said: "It's a real pleasure to be able to sign on for another year and I’m proud to stay at such an amazing club run by amazing people. The opportunities I’ve been given have been amazing and I can’t thank Chipie, the staff, and players enough for what they’ve done for me and my family. I can’t wait to get started again and carry on from where we left off. We’ve shown what we are capable of doing and there is no reason why this season we don’t go that one step further. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at The Steve Cook Stadium soo, bring on the new season, Up The Punjab!"

Wayne Bushell said: "I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to continue representing this football club. I want to thank Chipie for his trust and belief in me, it means a lot to have that support from him as well as the coaching staff. I’m excited for what’s ahead and proud to keep fighting for the badge. Last year we made history qualifying for the play-offs for the first time in the clubs history. This year we aim for more. Up the Jabs!"

Chipie Sian said: "In the 2022-23 season, I watched the U23's quite a few times and I was very impressed by their performances, attitude and desire on the pitch. Looking back at that decision, it has worked out really well. Both players are key players to the side and got us to where we are at this current stage. They are both learning at the same time but are going to get even better over time."
