Our Opposition:

Sheppey United, also known as ‘’The Ites’’, play in the Isthmian League after their

promotion from the SCEFL back in 2022. Their 2024-25 season was steady, and can be seen as an adaption phase, with the club managing to maintain their league status after moving up a division. They’ve shown enough resilience and tactical awareness to compete at the

higher level, which is crucial as they aim to establish themselves in the division.

Sheppey is managed by Kevin Watson, who took over from former manager Ernie Batten who unfortunately passed away this year. Watson brings experience and a new approach to the dugout, aiming to build on the solid foundation left behind by Batten. Sheppey is a side that has been able to grow many quality players, but one of their standout players is Daniel Bradshaw. Bradshaw is a veteran attacking forward, he offers experience and composure in the attacking side of play. Has an innate ability to hold the ball under pressure and bring his teammates into play.

This upcoming fixture promises to be a fierce battle between two teams with heavily contrasting play-styles and post-season form. Punjab will look to capitalise on their recent goal-scoring exploits and play with freedom in attack. Sheppey, on the other hand, will aim to stay compact and disciplined.

History:

Sheppey United, affectionately known as "The Ites," were originally founded in 1890 and are one of the oldest football clubs in Kent. They were founding members of the Southern League in the late 19th century and even competed in the FA Cup during the early 20th century. Throughout their long history, the club has seen a mix of highs and lows, with periods of success in the Kent League and other regional competitions. However, financial struggles forced the club to fold in 2001.

Determined not to let the club’s legacy fade, supporters and volunteers reformed Sheppey United in 2003. They began again at grassroots level and steadily climbed their way back up the football pyramid. Playing their home games at Holm Park on the Isle of Sheppey, the club has invested significantly in its facilities and squad over recent years. Their passionate fan base and strong community links have played a key role in their revival. After years of rebuilding, Sheppey earned promotion to the Isthmian League and continue to grow as a force in non-league football, combining ambition with a deep sense of tradition.
