Punjab United will be stepping into a historic Isuzu FA Vase 5th round tie against Fisher FC which is set up to be one of the most significant matches in the club’s history. The stakes could not be higher and this occasion marks the first time Punjab have ever competed at this stage of the competition.

Punjab arrive in great form, with a 4-game winning streak, highlighted by victories over Erith & Belvedere (4-1) and Bearsted (2-1). Our Opponents:

Fisher FC on the other hand come into the match following a difficult recent run which includes a 5-1 defeat to Whitstable Town, which may impact confidence. In their last five games they've picked up only two wins with one being on pens in the FA Vase. However, they remain a dangerous side with genuine quality.

Punjab’s defence will need to be alert to Lorenzo Duncan and Tom Jones who are Fisher’s current top goalscorers with 8 goals each.

History:

Fisher FC was founded in 1908 as the Fisher Catholic Club for Boys in Bermondsey, established by Norman Potter to provide sporting and recreational opportunities for underprivileged youths. Named in honour of St John Fisher, the club was entirely volunteer-run and quickly became a vital part of the local community, with football soon becoming central to its identity.

After reforming in 1967, Fisher enjoyed a rapid rise through the Kent Amateur League, earning promotion to the Spartan League in 1975. Continued success through the late 1970s and early 1980s saw the club progress into the Southern League and move into the purpose-built Surrey Docks Stadium. The club’s most successful period came during the mid-to-late 1980s, when Fisher won the Southern League title in 1986-87, earning promotion to the Football Conference, and reached the First Round of the FA Cup on two occasions.

Financial difficulties in the late 2000s ultimately led to the winding-up of Fisher Athletic in 2009. In response, supporters formed a trust to safeguard the club’s future, rebirthing it as Fisher FC and ensuring its continuation as a community-owned club.

Following several seasons of rebuilding, Fisher returned to their spiritual home in Rotherhithe in 2016. Since then, the club has steadily progressed both on and off the pitch. Under the management of Ajay Ashanike, Fisher have developed into a competitive and well-organised side within the South Counties East League.

Last season saw Fisher enjoy one of their strongest campaigns in recent years, finishing in the play-off positions and firmly establishing themselves as promotion contenders. Alongside league success, the club continued to make an impact in cup competitions, reflecting the consistency and resilience of Ashanike’s squad.

In the current 2025/26 season, Fisher have carried that momentum forward, once again competing towards the upper end of the table while balancing league ambitions with cup commitments.
