Punjab United vs Fisher FC, SCEFL Premier Division, The Steve Cook Stadium, Tuesday 14th April 2026, 7:45pm Kick-Off

Punjab United are at home this evening against Fisher after two convincing 3-0 wins, first away to Sutton Athletic, and then at home to Erith & Belvedere. A header from Jack Hopkins gave Punjab the lead in the second half before a chip from Harry Ottaway and a goal from Chris Edwards secured the win and puts Punjab into playoff contention. This put Punjab into 7th place with two games in hand and only three points off the playoffs and being unbeaten in the league in their last four matches.
Punjab have a lot to play for in this game as with a win, it would put Punjab in a great position to make the playoffs. A win for Fisher would cement their playoff spot and surely guarantee a home tie in the playoffs.
The programme for this evening's game can be seen below:
Our Opponents:

This is the third time that we've played Fisher this season. The first game was a FA Vase tie which saw us being 2-0 winners at home. However, three days after, we played them in the league and lost 5-1 away from home so Punjab will be looking for revenge.
Punjab’s defence will need to be alert to Lorenzo Duncan and Festos Kamara who currently has 20 and 16 goals in all competitions this season.
History:
Fisher FC was founded in 1908 as the Fisher Catholic Club for Boys in Bermondsey, established by Norman Potter to provide sporting and recreational opportunities for underprivileged youths. Named in honour of St John Fisher, the club was entirely volunteer-run and quickly became a vital part of the local community, with football soon becoming central to its identity.
After reforming in 1967, Fisher enjoyed a rapid rise through the Kent Amateur League, earning promotion to the Spartan League in 1975. Continued success through the late 1970s and early 1980s saw the club progress into the Southern League and move into the purpose-built Surrey Docks Stadium. The club’s most successful period came during the mid-to-late 1980s, when Fisher won the Southern League title in 1986-87, earning promotion to the Football Conference, and reached the First Round of the FA Cup on two occasions.
Financial difficulties in the late 2000s ultimately led to the winding-up of Fisher Athletic in 2009. In response, supporters formed a trust to safeguard the club’s future, rebirthing it as Fisher FC and ensuring its continuation as a community-owned club.
Following several seasons of rebuilding, Fisher returned to their spiritual home in Rotherhithe in 2016. Since then, the club has steadily progressed both on and off the pitch. Under the management of Ajay Ashanike, Fisher have developed into a competitive and well-organised side within the South Counties East League.
Last season saw Fisher enjoy one of their strongest campaigns in recent years, finishing in the play-off positions and firmly establishing themselves as promotion contenders. Alongside league success, the club continued to make an impact in cup competitions, reflecting the consistency and resilience of Ashanike’s squad.
In the current 2025/26 season, Fisher have carried that momentum forward, once again competing towards the upper end of the table while balancing league ambitions with cup commitments.
