MATCH REPORT: PUNJAB UNITED 0-6 EBBSFLEET UNITED

Punjab United took on fellow Gravesham side Ebbsfleet United at The Steve Cook Stadium in the Steve Cook Memorial Cup.

A record crowd of 500 people were in attendance for the game as the National League South Champions took on the Kent Senior Trophy Winners.

Ebbsfleet were on the front foot from the off as they took the lead in the 2nd minute with Greg Cundle firing into the back of the net off a slight deflection.

Punjab seemed to wake up after the early goal as they had a few half-chances at goal but nothing to test Mark Cousins. They did have the ball in the back of the net as new signing Tunde Aderonmu slotted it home but was ruled out for offside.

Punjab were left to rue that missed chance as Coulthirst side-footed home to double the visitors advantage.

Ebbsfleet kept Punjab keeper Rilwan Anibaba busy as he had to make a series of good saves to keep the scoreline down.

Ebbsfleet made it 3 just before half-time as McQueen fired a low shot into the corner from 18 yards.

HT 0-3

A series of changes took to the field for both teams in the second half. And those half-time changes seemed to change something as Tunde was presented a 1v1 opportunity from a short pass which was cut out. Unfortunately, he planted his shot onto the post.

Yet again, that miss proved costly for Punjab as Craig Tanner's shot hit the post but David Amoo was quickest to react as Ebbsfleet made it 4-0.

A fifth goal just came past the hour mark as the Ebbsfleet trialist forced the ball over from six yards. Jack Wakely struck home to give Ebbsfleet's sixth goal in the 74th minute and that's how it ended.
